Minecraft Alex Skin Template

The skin template isn't anywheres close to being this large though. I just made this template for people to use to make skins specifically for the alex model. So, that minuscule corner way up there is where the skin is actually drawn upon. I'm not gonna use mcskin3d because i can't. Alex is a default skin for players (like steve).and will be randomly assigned based on the player's id.

It's because your skin is not in the 1.8 skin format, which allows separate textures for arms and legs. And the alex one just has narrower arms. (just in case you're talking about the width of the arms you need to use the proper template for your character and you can switch between wide and narrow arms on the minecraft profile page) I installed it a couple times and it never worked for me.
